Spring Break! (Blog Entry #4)

I did not have any major plans for my 2012 spring break. My whole plan was to just come home and work to make money to buy clothes for my summer/vacation with family and friends to Disney World a week after I graduate. I worked at Seven Springs Mountain Resort in the Ski Check department. I really like my job, because it is rather simple and the money is good. I do not have to wear a uniform and I get to watch TV. When guests come in, I am responsible for tagging their skis/boards for temporary storage while they take a break from being on the slopes.

For the most part, this was the most uneventful spring break because I basically worked everyday. In my free time, I went out and ran 5-7 miles a day and hung out with my friends. We would hang out at my house, play basketball, Xbox, or go out to the bars.

  1. I also spent a majority of my break working, but your job sounds much more interesting than mine. It's pretty awesome that you get to work in Seven Springs surrounded by the mountains. It's especially great if you really enjoy skiing or snowboarding that you get to be surrounded by it and get paid to do it. I think that it's great that you are using the job to travel in the summer. I am also doing the same to go to New York City this summer. Working during break is worth having a great vacation in the summer.

I also spent a majority of my free time hanging out and going out with friends. It's great that you also got to do the same as week as do some of the things you like to do in your spare time, like running and basketball.

Hopefully these next couple weeks will go quickly so we can spend our time doing the things we enjoy.

  2. You are going to Disney after graduation! Oh my that is so exciting. I have only been there once and I would LOVE to go back again. That is such a cool choice for going away, you get the best of Florida and the parks. Awesome. Your job sounds actually kind of fun. Do you like to ski or is it just a job? A simple job with good pay is always a good thing, but if you are interested in the subject I think that helps to pass the time!

  4. That's a pretty good job to have! I'm also super jealous you are going to disney world after we graduate in May. I shouldn't complain too much because i'm getting married in June and going on a honeymoon to Mexico, but I would LOVE to go to Disney again...

  5. Sounds like you have a fun job and enjoy it. Not to many people can say that. At least you are planning for your future vacation and the money is going towards a goal of yours. Although you worked it sounds like your spring break wasn't all that bad as you still got to enjoy the things you wanted to do!

  6. Isn't buying new clothes the greatest? Disney World doesn't sound too shabby either! Can't believe graduation is coming up so soon, it's actually pretty unreal. I didn't know you worked at Seven Springs-that's stellar; it sounds like a nice relaxed place to work. I started at IKEA over spring break and it is chill as well, it's great when you don't feel the need to rip your hair out at work!

  7. Sounds like a great break Greg, I was hoping to get some time in on my Xbox as well but I couldnt find the time for it, Been dying to play hours and hours of Battlefield 3 and once I am done with this semester that is all I am going to do until I leave the country. Disney sounds like a great place for vacation, Kennywood gets a little tired after living here for 20 some years

  8. I'm sorry you didn't do anything too exciting for spring break but at least you have a fun vacation to look forward to! And hey, since you're graduating you will probably have a lot more opportunities to go on vacation. Thats sweet you work at seven springs, i love it there

  9. I never knew you worked there! That sounds like a really interesting job. If they're hiring any more employees.... haha just kiddin'. I don't live close enough to the resort for all that. ;)

Anyhow, it seems the more I read different blogs about spring break, the more I realize how crappy everyone's sounded. What's the point in calling it a break? We should call it catch-up week. And perhaps extend it for another week... heehee.

I know there's no such thing as "nothing to do" when you're a college student, so we're all constantly busy with something; whether that's work, school, extra-curricular activities, or personal stuff. Can we ever slow down and catch a break? I can't wait for summer. That's when the real break begins.

  10. Thats so exciting you are going to disney this summer! Havent been there since I was a kid but I'd love to make a trip down. I usually spend the majority of my spring breaks working too since I'm usually too busy with school. But this break I took some time off and spent it with family and friends. It was relaxing, but I am so excited to graduate and enjoy the summer!

  11. I worked most of my spring break also. Look on the bright side, your working hard will pay off when you finally take that trip to Florida and have the time of your life. Summer is right around the corner. That is an awesome job that you have, take advantage of that as much as possible before you get into the real business world.
